Top 100 workout songs

If you read my about me page, you know that in my previous life I was a band geek. So naturally I find music highly motivation when I workout. I am constantly searching for more workout songs that fit particular workouts, like running, yoga, or Insanity, so I actually have quite the variety of workout songs from slow to medium to super fast. The hard part with working out with a partner is finding music that both of you can tolerate without losing your mind. So after much trial and error, Heidi and I have come up our top 100 workout songs of 2014, it certainly isn’t the best playlist… yet. As you can probably tell from the songs below, it’s not so much what the lyrics are, but the beat of the song we are looking for. I know I’m unique in this regard, but I really like slower music for almost all of my workouts. For an Insanity class I need the up-tempo music it comes with, but with a workout in the gym I’m usually into slow, folk music.

One of my all-time favorite albums for a workout was Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago album. It’s a great album that has a real desperate sound. I found that motivating as I’d push myself for a little more weight, or one more rep or a little longer at cardio.

I often listen to singer-songwriter material when I’m really going after it during a workout.

    Great post!

A fellow band geek turned Beachbody coach!! Great to meet you! We should definitely connect. What do you play? And … is that the Haydn Trumpet Concerto No. 1 in the photo? 🙂
